COLOUR OF THE MONTH... wave goodbye to the summer months with turquoise – the cool colour that's always hot and goes especially well with the last, fading shades of your tan. Only a splash of it mind you, you don't want to over do it and look like a complete knob!

HOORAY... the polo top will never be able to boot the t-shirt off of its podium, but it will always have a preppy, hooray Henry look that cuts the mustard. Speaking of which, Henri Lloyd Jeans range this Autumn/Winter strikes a fine look at £35 to £40. Hljeans.com

STRIKE A LIGHT... Zippo have the old school rocker badge of honour. Even if you don't smoke it's fun to have one handy and they make for a great ice-breaker. We're mildly amused by their Red Hot & Rockin collection but it's the 1935 replica that we're truly hankering for.

GOT THE BOTTLE... We can't rave enough about these stainless steel water bottles. Keep one filled up in your fridge, take it out with you for the day and notice how yummy and crisp cold the water tastes. Homeofmillican.com VINTAGE... mixing up old with new will always be strike a good look and a happy solution to being strapped for cash. We say hit the car boot sales, charity shops and jumble sales for bargains galore.

TIE-DYE... another way to save the day is tie-dye. A do-it-yourself solution to livening up a vest, t-shirt or a pair of jeans. Don't go too mad with your colour combos, just sticking to a simple one colour will do.
