We hooked up with ten adopted Ibizans and asked them just why they fell for Ibiza's charm and the locations that make it what it is.
THE PRINCESS of Pacha, Australian Sarah Main had already conquered Sydney's biggest clubs when she decided to crack Ibiza just after the millennium. Going from Sydney's hottest house talent to another unknown Ibiza DJ was a bold move but fast-forward seven years and Sarah is sitting pretty as Pacha Ibiza's main resident. She also mixes the annual 'Pure Pacha' CDs alongside Pete Tong and presents Pacha's weekly Galaxy Radio show. "You can come to Ibiza, be yourself and follow your dreams," believes Sarah, who resides on the island all year round, when she isn't jetting to Pacha's international outposts in New York, Marrakech and Sao Paolo.
BEST PLACE TO CHILL: "Aguas Blancas is incredible and actually gets a few waves, which is important for an Aussie, but my favourite is Es Palmador, in Formentera, the white sands and clear waters are unbeatable."
BEST PLACE TO EAT: "My local El Pato does the most amazing tapas but with a modern European style. My recommendations? They do a beautiful goats cheese and forest berry salad and their Penne Arrabiata is a must."
BEST PLACE TO DRINK: "Usually Ibiza town's Rock Bar or Base Bar because you know you're going to hook up with people that you really want to see but don't get a chance to normally. For a nice moonlit cocktail, it's got to be the terrace at L'Elephant."
BEST PLACE TO SHOP: "I'm the worst shopper in the world so I've got a friend who acts as my unofficial stylish. She's a compulsive shopper and really good at putting outfits together. Oddity in Ibiza town is cool and the Spanish label Custo do some really original, colourful prints - it's like Miro on clothes. They don't follow trends and have a really unique Spanish look."
LA PRINCESA de Pacha, la australiana Sarah Main, ya había conquistado los grandes clubes de Sydney cuando decidió probar suerte en Ibiza después del milenio. Pasar de ser una de las artistas de house más de moda en Sydney a otro DJ desconocido de Ibiza fue un osadía, pero después de siete años Sarah es ahora la residente principal de Pacha Ibiza. Además mezcla el CD anual 'Pure Pacha' junto a Pete Tong y presenta el show radiofónico semanal de Pacha en Galaxy Radio. "Puedes venir a Ibiza, ser tu mismo y perseguir tus sueños," cree Sarah, quien reside en la isla todo el año, cuando no está viajando a puestos internacionales de Pacha como Nueva York, Marrakech y Sao Paolo.
MEJOR SITIO PARA RELAJARSE: "Aguas Blancas es increíble y de hecho hay algunas olas, muy importante para una australiana, pero mi favorita es Es Palmador en Formentera, las arenas blancas y las aguas cristalinas no tienen rival."
MEJOR SITIO PARA COMER: "Mi vecino El Pato hace las tapas más buenas pero con un estilo europeo moderno. ¿Mis recomendaciones? Hacen una ensalada de queso de cabra y frutos rojos fantástica y los penne arrabiata hay que probarlos."
MEJOR SITIO PARA UNA COPA: "Normalmente el Rock Bar o Base Bar en Ibiza Ciudad porque sabes que te vas a encontrar con gente que realmente quieres ver pero que normalmente no puedes. Para un cóctel a la luz de la luna, tiene que ser la terraza de L'Elephant."
MEJOR SITIO PARA COMPRAR: "Soy la peor compradora del mundo así que tengo una amiga que actúa como mi estilista no oficial. Es una compradora compulsiva y muy buena casando distintas prendas. Oddity en Ibiza Ciudad es genial y la marca española Custo hace cosas muy originales con vistosos estampados - es como Miró en moda. No siguen las tendencias y tienen un aspecto español único."
