Love Dough love urban

New club night adds fresh urban appeal...

Already a sensation in North England,
urban night Love Dough land on Ibiza for
their debut season at Es Paradis this year -
replacing Twice As Nice who are moving to
nearby Eden. But with the two urban nights going
head-to-head on Tuesdays, isn't there a risk they will
cancel each other out?

"I don't think so," reckons Love Dough's Matt Smythe.
"Respect to Twice As Nice but I think our line-ups have a
different appeal. We represent the urban sound but
there's a point where things crossover into something a
bit more cutting-edge and that's where we lie."

With line-ups including live performances from Mobo
winner Sway (5th July) and killer grime crossover
artists Lethal Bizzle (26th July) and Kano (9th August),
Love Dough is the first Ibizan promotion to offer a
platform to the fresh wave of live UK urban acts.
London upstarts N Dubz and grime-hop sensation L.
Man are also set to appear.

"We're also introducing other live performances,"
continues Matt. "There's urban violinist Adaggio, who
will be playing live over urban beats and Faith FX is one
of the UK's leading human beatboxes."

Harbouring ambitions to become the Hed Kandi of
urban music, Matt views cracking the White Isle as
fundamental to reaching the next step in their journey.
"If we can nail a season in Ibiza I think it will open up a
lot of doors in the UK," said Matt. "We're looking to
take Love Dough nationwide and this is a perfect
platform to show clubbers from all corners of the UK
and beyond what we're about."
