Massive Attack and Four Tet have produced Neneh Cherry’s return track: Listen

Massive Attack and Four Tet have combined production skills for Swedish legend Neneh Cherry’s latest release, ‘Kong’.

Robert “3D” Del Naja from the Bristol-based group, and South London’s Kieran Hebden combine on the first music to come from Cherry since her first solo album in 17 years in 2014.

Out on Smalltown Supersound, the spacey trip-hop track features recognisable elements of Massive Attack’s work, while Four Tet knows Cherry well having produced ‘Blank Project’, the LP from 2014.

“Every nation seeks its friends in France and Italy and all across the seven seas,” sings Cherry on the track, addressing the refugee crisis. "Bite my head off still my world. Will always be a little risk worth taking."

Four Tet combined artists as diverse as Britney Spears and Ben Klock on his essential mix for BBC Radio 1 earlier in the year.

The DJ and producer will host an all-day party for the Warehouse Project in Manchester in October.

The video for the track, directed by Peckham native Jenn Nkiru, can be viewed below.
