East End sweat box SOS gets the May Bank Holiday started with its May The Fourth Be With You party - on Saturday the 4th of May.
Taking over Dalston Superstore, residents Warboy and Joe Robots welcome special guest Light Year downstairs. Cutting his teeth in the Sydney club scene, releases for the likes of Bang Gang and Turbo have found him fans in Soulwax, Erol Alkan, Tiga and Mr Oizo. Meanwhile, he's added his remix touch to Surkin, ZZT, Alex Gopher, Classixx, Feadz and more. Illuminating his sets with classic house, disco and techno, check this recent mix which features Medlar, Moodymann, Kink and Paranoid London amongst its many treats.
Upstairs Permanent Vaction's House of Wallenberg hosts his album launch. A Swedish artist who makes house music, art and videos, and runs a magazine called Mums and a club night called Mums Mums, his album 'Legends' features collaborations with his favourite female artists; from Neneh Cherry, Ari Up of The Slits and Jwl B from Yo Majesty to Victoria Wilson James from Soul II Soul, Leila K and Octavia St Laurent from Paris is burning.
Check the video to his latest single 'Be Somebody', featuring Octavia St Laurent, star of the famous documentary on vogue and the ball room scene of New York, Paris is Burning. Since she sadly died before the track's release, so the video features a tribute led by members of the House of Ninja, House of Milan and House of Evisu.
