MIAMI BLOG: DAY ONE

Saturday March 16th

Welcome to day one of our Miami blog. Across the course of the week we will be bringing you daily updates from the Winter Music Conference, Miami Music Week or whatever you want to call the annual celebration of electronic music taking place in Miami right NOW!

Across the next 9 days, we will be providing rundowns of the best parties, video interviews with the artists out in Miami and extensive coverage from the packed schedule of events at the official DJ Mag hotel: Delano!

But it’s not all about us. We want YOU to get involved too. So if you are in Miami, or you just want to wade in on the discussion you can tweet us @djmag with your tweet reviews, pics and feedback.  The best tweets and pics will be published in this daily blog.

Don't forget to check back every day, as last time we ran a Miami blog THIS HAPPENED.

By moving to two consecutive weekends, Ultra have effectively extended the duration of Miami Music Week to a monster ten days. Most of the parties don’t kick off until next week, but the first weekend of Ultra is well and truly under way...

Yesterday's line up saw Deadmau5, Kaskade, Porter Robinson, Knife Party and more on the main stage. We asked you to tweet us your 120 character reviews of the event and were besieged by @HARDWELL love.

@Shrinath_Sharma tweeted from the main stage:@HARDWELL is fucking god !! This guy deserves to be #no1dj @DJmag ! #UMFMIAMI #UMF15 #UMFLIVE

And @StevieJonP too things further in proclaiming that If @HARDWELL doesn't get #1 DJ this year on @DJmag, I'm deleting all the EDM music off my library.

Best get voting in July then, Stevie!

If you missed him last night you can catch our current coverstar playing poolside at the DJ Mag at Delano Opening Party on Wednesday, if you can beg, steal or borrow a ticket that is...

Thanks to all the people who tweeted us pictures from Ultra yesterday. Special mentions to @arashshirazi, who tweeted us this moody backstage pic of a sillouetted dubfire and @Ararcita who shared this great shot of the stage.

But we must spare a thought for @Oltean_Gabriel who tweeted us a photo of what appears to be a broken leg. No Ultra for them this year!

If you are heading to Ultra or any Miami parties today, be sure to tweet us @djmag your 120 character reviews and pictures. We will publish the best ones in tomorrow’s blog.

Back in South Beach we spent the day crawling round the pool parties hosted at the hotels along Collins Avenue. This additional weekend is a bit of an unknown quantity so we weren’t sure what to expect by way of numbers, however South Beach was packed all day long.

We started off at the Anjunabeats party at the National pool (pictured above) where we found Andrew Beyer firing out daytime trance killers to an appreciative crowd, enjoying the sun and the sand between their toes. We even bump into drum & bass renegade John B, deep in the crowd pulling early shapes to Beyers slick tracks.

Stepping further down Collins Avenue, we drop in on the Surfcomber (pictured above), where Pete Tong is throwing his All Gone Pete Tong Pool Party. It is characteristically rammed and going off in all directions. Interestingly this party is right next to our hotel room and the soundsystem is so loud it rattles the windows...no early night for us then!

We finished the night off at the spectular LIV, where Sander Van Doorn smashed out big room house to a packed crowd.

So onto day two. Armin Van Buuren headlines Ultra this evening, and the South Beach events schedule is packed. R3hab and friends are hosting the National Pool / beach area, Cadenza take on the W Hotel and Sci-Tec & Supernature are bringing Audiofly, Nick Curly and more to Treehouse.

If you need help planning your party schedule, you can use our handy MIAMI LISTINGS.

Thanks for all your tweets, keep them coming in. More tomorrow...
