For those of you who have been hiding in an underground bunker (we don't mean Sub Club) for the past few months, London’s much-anticipated SW4 festival steamrolls into the capital once again on Saturday 25th August, bringing with it a powerhouse of musical talent and turning Clapham Common into a cider-soaked rave trampoline for the duration of the Bank Holiday weekend.
With August upon us, the SW4 buzz continues to build, the event soaked with so much hype it would fall apart like a soggy digestive if you tried to pick it up. Just take the teaser video below: a 'Smack My Bitch Up'-style montage following Skrillex on the supposed morning before SW4. We assume it’s Skrillex anyway, from the subtle hints (the glasses and tattoos) and the not-so-subtle fact that it is as much a promotional video for him as it is for the festival itself. As he makes his way through London smoking fags, signing tits and throwing change at tramps, names from the lineup inexplicably appear in sandwiches and coffee cups. We are also presented moments from previous SW4s, including classic ‘silhouetted hands-in-the-air against the sky’, ‘hot girl dancing on guy’s shoulders’ and ‘lasers panning up into the camera’ sorta fare, not forgetting the faces of euphoric festivalgoers going apeshit to artists such as Skrillex (of course!)
Joining Skrillex (did we mention he was performing?) is an extensive list of DJ top dogs including the likes of Carl Cox, Chase & Status, Mark Knight, Steve Angello, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, John Digweed, Andy C and many, many more. We can’t guarantee the weather (best pack sunscreen as well as a pack-a-mac), but what we can guarantee is that this year’s SW4 is gonna be HUGE.
