Mount Kimbie Offer Free Track From New Remix EP

Up and coming dubstep duo treat us to FaltyDL remix

Words: Bianca Mitchell

London duo Dominic Maker and Kai Campos aka Mount Kimbie represent the portion of dubstep devoted to deep, atmospheric, stripped-back sounds pioneered by artists such as Instra:mental, Skream and dBridge. And at the collective age of just 22 it’s not difficult to understand why they’re whipping up interest from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Scuba. In the ever-morphing soundscape of dubstep, the duo have formed a unique repertoire of ambient-rich, experimental rhythms.

The hotly tipped pair are currently offering a free download of their track, ‘Serged’, remixed by FaltyDL. This is taken off their highly anticipated EP released in two parts this April.

On the first part of the EP, Dom and Kai’s debut ‘Maybes’ receives soulful treatment from their vocal collaborator James Blake, as heard on Scuba’s recent SUB:STANCE mix on Ostgut Ton, while ‘Serged’ is given a garage reshaping by New Yorker FaltyDL. On the flip, DJ Mag's Best Breakthrough Producers of 2009 Instra:mental transform ‘At Least’ into a bass-heavy 4/4 roller. The second 12"

; features Panorama Bar’s Tama Sumo & Prosumer reworking ‘William’ into a shuffling deep house groove, and Scuba under his SCB guise delivering a murky, cerebral techno remix of ‘Vertical’.

Mount Kimbie are currently recording their debut LP due for release this summer on Hotflush.
