Movida Corona DJ Competition returns

Potential superstar DJs poised for prestigious Movida Competition to win ultimate prize

Corona, the ludicrously refreshing tipple best with a lime, is giving you the chance to reach the pinnacle of DJ heights with its 11th Movida Corona Champion competition. Upon entry, an estimated 250 British DJs will compete over various venues on bills headed by some of the finest House DJs dance music has to offer, including James Zabiela for the Leeds play-off round, and Shapeshifters in Belfast. To top it all off, the overall winner will receive every DJs dream – the opportunity to perform a set at the highly prestigious Pacha, Madrid as well as record three mixes with Pacha Recordings and headline the Movida Corona Tour.

Movida Corona will be touring 11 cities within the UK between August and September with 12 heats and five play-offs, sure to bring through original, thriving talent such as last years winner Charles VBV. The UK tour finale will be held at the untouchable super-club Ministry of Sound on 18th October. Enthused dance fans attending also have the opportunity to win some Corona prizes, such as headphones, watches, caps, and t-shirts.

The competition will host over 500 eliminatory rounds and 20 national finals across the globe from the likes of Germany, Turkey and Greece. For the UK winner, up for grabs is a £1000 cash prize, Pioneer CDJ equipment, Coroner Extra goodies and the chance to compete in the final in Madrid, accompanied by accommodation and VIP treatment. Andy Milford, the UK marketing and promotions coordinator for the event, was keen to stress his excitement: “The competition allows new DJs to gain exposure and have the chance to play their sets to huge audiences," he said. "it's a taste of what can be expected for the overall Movida Corona Champion 2011. Anyone who enjoys house music can get involved”.

If this whets your appetite, you can compete by submitting your own 30 minute mix to the website. Additionally, DJs can fast-track their way to the final using ‘Facebook chance', which means that each entrant can notify friends and fans of their entrance to the competition. The DJ with the most Facebook votes will go directly through to the grand final. You must be over 18 to enter the competition.

Corona Extra is a beer that goes hand in hand with partying and is available across the country in supermarkets, convenience stores, off licenses, bars and pubs nationwide. Best enjoyed ice-cold with a slice of lemon.
