MY FIRST TIME IN IBIZA: CARL CRAIG

We chatted to Detroit legend Carl Craig on his first time in Ibiza

“The first time I played in Ibiza was at Space. I can’t remember the exact year but I’m pretty sure it was 2008. For years, my agent was trying to convince me to come over and play [in Ibiza].

To be honest, I didn’t really think it’d be my scene, but finally I agreed to come over and play at We Love...Space for [former We Love...chief] Mark Broadbent. I’d just watched It’s All Gone Pete Tong, and the part where he was losing his hearing and the whole ear-ringing thing was really close to home for me! I played the Discotecca the first time and it was great. I think it was cool because I played a lot of tunes that would have been Ibiza staples, but a lot of people wouldn't have played; tracks like Donna Summer’s 'I Feel Love' and others. I think I was just in and out the first time, and I played a few times that summer. When I am in Ibiza these days I make sure to chill out!”
