NEW 'AFTER DARK' MIX SERIES

First instalment to be mixed by Bill Brewster

Danceance music archivist, DJ and journalist Bill Brewster has mixed the first instalment of ‘After Dark’, a new DJ-focused series from the people behind the enduring ‘Late Night Tales’ compilations, due out on 5th May .

“I’ve done sleeve notes for every release, but one, so have a longstanding relationship with [Late Night Tales],” says Bill, before explaining it was an afternoon Boiler Room set in the company of people from the label that served as a catalyst to getting this slow and sexy mix off the ground.

“I don’t know whether it’s just because I’m a lot older now and can’t dance too fast, but I love that groovy, slow vibe between 110-115 BPM. You have to work harder to make it work, but I think it’s more rewarding when it does.”

The mix is packed with exclusives (‘Moon Plain’ by Coober Pedy University Band, aka Tornado Wallace’s latest project), rarities (Marti Cane’s sumptuous ‘Love the Way You Love Me’) and plenty of “slow release carbs” that start slow and stay that way. The CD release will be followed by a vinyl sampler, featuring four cuts from the mix.
