Next Girl DJ Contest

All-girl DJ competition sponsored by JBL and ROXY

Words: Bianca Mitchell

Calling all female DJs!

If you’re passionate, ambitious and really know how to lay down a great mix, this could be your opportunity to make it big on the scene.

Next Girl DJ is a new Pan-European contest that aims to discover the most talented female DJ around and transform her into a dance music superstar. The contest is all about providing a space for girls to showcase their skills and could prove a life-changing opportunity for the lucky winner. To be in with a chance of winning a year’s contract with Roxy to produce music and a whole host of other prizes – including DJing at the ROXY Jam surf festival this summer and receiving some super-cool JBL products, simply upload a 30 minute mix online to www.nextgirldj.com, facilitated by online mix-sharing platform www.letsmix.com. The public vote for their top mixes and a panel of expert judges then whittle the favourites down to four who will each play at live semi-finals organised by Resident Advisor in the biggest music capitals across Europe – Berlin, London, Brussels and Paris.

The London event is at CAMP (City Arts and Music Project) on 20th May from 7pm and the expert judging panel looks something like...

DJ Anthea

Nick Sabine (RA)

Will Harold (Matter)

Clare Dover (Secret Sundaze)

Caroline Hayes (Spun Out)

Lulu La Vay (journalist)

DJ Sand (artist, promoter et producer)

Public voting will stop on April 16th. The contest is open to any girl in Europe over the age of 18. For all competition rules and information visit www.nextgirldj.com
