Playing around

Made to Play's first compilation is a belter

There's little doubt that the irresistible underground house releases of Jesse Rose's Made to Play label do exactly what they say on the tin. In high demand, DJs have had to snap up each limited vinyl-only single fast lest they be gone forever. But those who've missed out need fear no longer: the label has finally seen fit to unleash their first CD compilation.

'Playing Around' (out now) offers some of the finest, rawest, electronic house known to humanity over the course of two CDs. Both label classics like the ESG-pilfering, block party beats of Lil-Bo Tweak's 'K-Rizzle', and a series of exclusives from esteemed producers like Riton, Deadset, Claude VonStroke and Jesse Rose himself get a look in.
Meanwhile, the second CD is brilliantly mixed by rising DJ/producer and Panorama Bar resident Oliver $ (real name Oliver Siebert).
"I was really honoured to be asked to do this mix as Made to Play is one of my favourite labels and this release is a big deal as the first label compilation and CD release," Siebert enlightened.
"Once I knew it was me doing the mix the next job was selecting which tracks to feature, which wasn't easy as there are so many great tunes and the mix had to be roughly an hour long. Once I had narrowed down the 11 chosen tracks I set about crafting a DJ set with a beginning, middle and an end, which is how I always like to play, whether it be live in a club or for a mix CD like this," he commented.

Featuring several of $'s own productions, including the killer 'Hotflash', 'Playing Around' is both a perfect Polaroid of Rose's imprint and spotlight on the promising talent in Oliver $.
