“Electronic, progressive dance music.”
Best known for:
“Making big festival anthems.”
Tune of the year:
“It's hard to pick just one, and we’re not into ranking music.”
London, UK.
Breakthrough DJ/producer of 2014:
“On the Anjunabeats side, Jason Ross is a real talent. We’ve been spoilt for choice on Anjunadeep, but we’re especially excited about Lane 8 and Croquet Club.”

Above & Beyond are in the studio, working on new music. “We’re working our third artist album,” says Jono Grant, one third of the progressive trance band, along with bandmates Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki. “We’re including some reflective piano pieces, some downtempo songs and big festival anthems, like our recent ‘Blue Sky Action’ piece.”

The band have performed everywhere from London to Croatia, Mexico, New York and all over Asia recently, playing “100 gigs so far this year”.

Above & Beyond have been making music since the late 1990s but when it comes to DJing, they say the secret to doing it well is based on a simple formula.

“It’s all about structuring a DJ set well and being brave,” says Tony. “Paul Oakenfold has always been our biggest inspiration for that. In his 1994 Radio 1 ‘Goa Mix’ he went beyond stringing a series of dance tracks together, drawing from a broader palette.”

And that’s exactly what Above & Beyond do.
