Best known for:
“My tracks, my hair, flip-flops and BBQing in Holland almost all year round.”
Tune of the year:
Sydney, Australia.
Breakthrough DJ/producer of 2014:

Code Black is a global hardstyle icon who this year had the ultimate privilege for such a person: he recorded the official Defqon. 1 anthem for the Australian edition of the monstrous EDM festival.

The resulting track, ‘Release the Beast’ is the sort of brain-frying, soul-crushing and dizzyingly electronic track that sends your every nerve into overdrive. He followed that up with an official anthem for XXLerator, this time opting for something less aggressive and more akin to a jagged happy hardcore record on crystal meth.

He’s also been busy collaborating with Atmozfears and Brennan Heart, whilst his solo cut ‘Pandora’ was also a massive hit with hardstyle heads everywhere.

“Some music that is considered hardstyle is a world away from what I do,” he says. “It's probably more distant than some of my music [being] compared to a house or trance track. But I embrace change and variety is a great thing.”
