Athlete Whippet will release their new EP ‘Hands Only’ on their own squareglass imprint this Friday 25th May.
The Peckham-based duo of Barath and Braum bring their nuanced and lively brand of house to another level on this release, having only launched onto the scene in this form in 2016. Both accomplished live musicians, there is an active, loose quality to the three original cuts that make the bulk of the EP, wrapped up beautifully with equally sophisticated remixes by Max Graef and Seb Wildblood.
At times jazzy and sun-kissed, at others dark and doused in smoke, ‘Hands Only’ is an addictive release that is at once light and captivating. ‘Other’ – premiering below – ’ is a hazy, percussive affair with a vaguely robotic vocal, rattling drums and crisp pads, painting the shrouded scene of the moment the beach (or back garden) has gone cold but you don’t want to leave just yet...
