Premiere: Cromby ‘Fandango’

Belfast-born, Berlin-based Cromby steps up on Denis Sulta’s new Silver Service imprint with the ‘Futurola’ EP. ‘Fandango’ is an angular, acidic electro hammer for a spacey peak time slot...

Denis Sulta has launched a new imprint of his Sulta Selects label in the form of Silver Service. First up on the new branch is Berlin-based former Belfast club stalwart Cromby, who delivers three peak time club huts that cast a devoted eye to classic house and electro sounds forms.

After spending six years as a resident at Belfast’s incomparable Shine parties, the past year has seen Cromby make his Boiler Room debut as well playing the hallowed space of Panorama Bar. He’ll also be making his Warehouse Project debut this year. All of that, plus the release of this new EP on 21st September serves to solidify him as one of the most promising talents out of Ireland of recent years.

While the EP’s title track and ‘Barneymania’ are odes to classic Chicago house, veering from Jackin’ verve to some deeper vibes, closer ‘Fandango’ is a much grittier affair. Having done the rounds at festivals all summer, the track is angular, acidic, industrial and coarse, its mesmerising arpeggios slapping down on top of a heady groove. You can check it out below.
