Premiere: DJ Boring & Frits Wentink ‘Oli Coony’

Two of house music’s brightest sparks team up for a fiery EP on Bobby Donny – ‘Oli Coony’ is a breaks infused cut of wiry electronics, vocal trips and sharp percussion...

Since breaking into everyone’s life with one of lo-fi house’s definitive cuts, ‘Winona’, in 2016, Australian producer DJ Boring has proved again and again that he has plenty more razor sharp cuts up his sleeve than a polarizing genre piece. With a busy touring schedule and the recent launch of his new label with Stanley Schmidt, Vienna’, the London-based DJ/producer has been very busy indeed.

Dutch artist Frits Wentink has been dazzling since 2012 with his wonky, swerving brand of house production and joyous DJ sets. The Heist Records affiliate and Bobby Donny label head has consistently defied convention and branched into exciting new territory.

Now, the pair have teamed up on ‘Wasted Years of Pumping Iron’, a three-track EP on Wentink’s Bobby Donny label and the result is sizzling. ‘Oli Conny’ – premiering below – is a breaks-infused slice of wiry electronics, razor sharp percussion and disintegrative vocal slices.

A trippy, wonky EP that showcases the individual intricacies and eccentricities of both producers, ‘Wasted Years of Pumping Iron’ is an essential listen.

It’s out on 18th May. Pre-order it here
