Premiere: Moscoman ‘I Ran’

For almost three years now, Moscoman’s Disco Halal label has championed forward thinking music with a firm sense of identity. With releases featuring artists from Tel Aviv such as Red Axes, Autarkic and Naduve as well as the likes of Parisian duo Acid Arab and Moscow’s Simple Symmetry, the label has been defined by its showcasing of Eastern electronics, psychedelia, disco and traditional sounds with an always-progressive determination. Most recently, the label's first release of 2018 was a stunning, eerily trance-inducing dark disco EP from Tokyo-based artist Yoshinori Hayashi.

Now making his debut appearance on his own label, the Berlin-based, Israel-born polymath serves up a track that has long been a central fixture in his DJ sets. ‘I Ran’ – premiering below – fuses traditional Iranian instrumentation and vocal samples with a heady, deep groove, giving it a standout feel in the increasingly prevalent and respected Disco Halal canon.

"Disco Halal was for people that didn't have a room to speak yet and now they do", Moscoman – real name Chen Moscovici – explains.

"You need to know where you came from to know where you're going. For my first original EP on Disco Halal, it's time to go back to the middle eastern roots of the label. It’s a special track that has been the ace up my sleeve on countless dance floors across the globe.”

The track comes paired with a remix from Simple Symmetry, a psychedelic, more reserved but equally infectious take on the original.
