Onipa are set to release their debut EP on Parisian label Mawimbi and UK label Wormfood on 7th September.

Fusing  a variety of west African styles with playful, springy electronics, it’s an accomplished introduction for the group, comprised of long time friends KOG and Tom Excell (Nubiyan  Twist), Dwayne Kilvington(Wonky Logic) on synths and Finn Booth (Nubiyan Twist) on drums.

The group made their live debut in Australia in front of a 5000-strong crowd during a celebration of Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday. Since, the group have been on a steady upward trajectory and their debut EP is solid demarcation of that.

‘Baala’ closes the EP with a bang, a flourishing, lovely cut that fuses lively energy with a stellar vocal performance from KOG. You can hear it below.

‘Open My Eyes’ is will be released on 7th September. You can pre-order it here.
