Premiere: Patrick Conway ‘Padded Cell Mates’

Emerging producer Patrick Conway delivers the goods on the second EP to be released on Art E-Fax.

E-FAX002 is a selection of submerged breaks, dark and spectral bass grooves and washed out melodies all combining to make release that is as eerie as it is infectious. A producer who describes his influences as being “transcendental meditation, UK Rave, Sheffield bleep/Warp records, Carl Craig circa the early ‘90s, Silent Servant, Shabba Ranks and joss sticks smoking out the studio”, it’s not hard to hear the shadowy, dense smoke and heavy calm that unifies those inspirations.

Nowhere is this more present than on ‘Padded Cell Mates’, the second cut on the EP which skips dizzily on loose percussion, ecstatic breaks and a mischievous, spooky lead synth swell. Check it out below.

‘E-FAX002’ is out next Friday 14th September.
