Founded by Ema Jones in 2007, the project aims to raise awareness and funds for charity Wateraid.org with a series of special events and club nights. Their launch party last November at London's AKA Bar was a roaring success, bringing together DJs like Rocky, Chris Bones (Black Rabbit), Simon Kurrage (SDM, Mulletover) Mr Shiver (Unsung Heroes) and Dan Van Damn (Jack Digitals), raising £779 for Wateraid.
For Rocky, DJaid represents a new way of giving dance music back its political voice, of partying in the name of a good cause.
"It's a bit of a cliché but people say that music is always take, take, take, so it's nice to give something back for a change. It's a great cause and a great party," he enthused.
DJaid have three upcoming events planned at London's AKA Bar, on 29th May, 31st July and 30th October, with more top DJ talent appearing: Serge Santiago and Dan van Damn are already confirmed.
DJaid will also be present at summer festivals Wax:On, Secret Garden Party and Stokefest, with further plans to take the party to Brighton Beach and overseas still in the planning stages.
It's a great initiative, so why not get involved? Check out DJaid.co.uk for more information.
