Richie Hawtin locks two new headline CLOSE shows

Coming to Glasgow and London this October...

Richie Hawtin has locked in two new headlining performances of his award-winning audiovisual CLOSE show in the UK: Thursday, 11th October, at 02 Academy in Glasgow and Friday, 12th October, at Roundhouse in London.

Originally debuted at Coachella 2017, CLOSE – Spontaneity & Synchronicity unifies the art of DJing and live performance and explores the relationship between human creativity and innovative technology. Each CLOSE show is completely improvised, which makes for a unique performance each and every time. Hawtin has since toured the show around the world, with festival plays at Primavera Sound, ADE and Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House.

“I have spent most of my life behind a table half-concealed,” said Hawtin via a press release. “The CLOSE show removes the barrier between artist and audience and it feels like I’m in that moment with everybody else. It feels very powerful. If I can get to that point during the show with everybody, that’s why I got into this music. Being locked in this cloud of frequencies that feels like it’s from tomorrow; that you’re living in the future. I am really happy to finally perform this show at the Roundhouse in London, and the Scottish crowds have always been a huge inspiration to me.”

Both upcoming UK CLOSE shows will also feature a live performance from Swedish electronic act TM404, aka Andreas Tilliander, a regular guest at Hawtin’s ENTER. residency in Ibiza.

Known to continuously evolve music technology throughout his career, Hawtin recently teased a custom version of his PLAYdifferently MODEL 1 mixer, an update from the model originally unveiled in 2016.

Prior to his UK CLOSE shows, Hawtin is keeping busy with a summer of festival performances at Sónar, Awakenings, Lowlands and Tomorrowland on the Drumcode stage. Hawtin is also confirmed to perform at Sven Väth’s Cocoon’s series in Ibiza and at the inaugural Connect, a collaborative festival between Awakenings and Time Warp happening this October in Düsseldorf. At the end of this month, Hawtin returns to Berghain for his first set at the Berlin clubbing institution in over six years.

Tickets to the CLOSE UK shows go on sale Friday, 8th June, at 9am BST. For more information about CLOSE, visit Richie Hawtin’s official website.
