SHOWTEK ESSENTIALS

Exclusive podcast from Dutch 'Booyah' producers

There's no escaping the ever growing reach of hardstyle, which has been growing in presence in the Top 100 DJs poll for some years now. Showing signs of taking over from dubstep and trap across the pond in the US, its distinctive shuffle dance has already laid the groundwork for its arrival in the UK by infiltrating deep house dancefloors, deeply dividing opinions in the process.

Although personally identifying their sound as progressive house, Dutch brothers Showtek, aka Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen, are likely to take that polarisation even further with their new single 'Booyah' (out 20th October on Polydor). While fans of putting a donk on it will no doubt lap up its rowdy bass and break up (not down) to drum and bass, it's likely to illicit plenty of YouTube trolling from those who prefer their dance sounds to come with the prefix 'deep'. Having already been Zane Lowe's Hottest Tune... back in July though, its radio support looks likely to open the debate up to the wider world.

So what do you think? Check the video below along with an exclusive Showtek Essentials podcast where the brothers take you through some of their favourite tracks...
