South West Four Weekender 2010

More major artists set to rock Clapham Common this August Bank Holiday Weekend

Words: Bianca Mitchell

It looks like the first hints of summer are finally here and what better way to gear up for the sunshine than the prospect of spending August Bank Holiday Weekend raving to the best DJs on the planet at SW4? After the announcement that DJ giants Armin van Buuren and Fatboy Slim are headlining this year’s event, we’ve been positively gagging to find out the next confirmed acts set to rock Clapham Common at the whopping great big weekender.

Prog legend John Digweed is one of them and returns by popular demand to deliver another epic set in his very own Bedrock Arena. He plays SW4 for the sixth consecutive year, alongside a whole host of future Bedrock talent who truly reflect the current direction of the label. Joining Digweed is acid house supremo Josh Wink, techno stalwart Christian Smith, progressive house hero Guy J, fast rising star Joris Voorn with a live performance and making their debut are Mutant Clan (featuring Timo Maas & Santos).

The mouth-watering Saturday lineup continues with class acts Paul Oakenfold and Judge Jules who revisit to play The Gallery Arena. Joining them is progressive master Jerome Isma-Ae as well as Gareth Emery, whose shows elevated him to number nine in the DJmag Top 100 poll last year. Giuseppe Ottaviani provides another UK festival exclusive and comes to SW4 off the back of Vandit’s 10th Anniversary World Tour.

Mark Knight brings his essential House party ‘Toolroom Knights’ to the Common alongside counterparts Funkagenda, Dave Spoon, Dirty South and Joachim Garraud.

Day two of South West Four continues with a man whose name has become synonymous with the festival - Carl Cox, who has rocked the main stage on numerous occasions and become something of an SW4 legend. He returns to Clapham Common to host his Carl Cox & Friends arena with techno lord Dubfire who makes a welcome return after his exceptional appearance last year. Alongside them will be Vitalic, presenting his outstanding V Mirror show live.

Sunday’s offerings also include Ms Dynamite, dubstep pioneers Skream, Benga and Caspa and drum & bass favourite Andy C. Boys Noize, Housemeister, Djedjotronic and Shadow Dancer (live) join Sunday’s lineup as a part of a Boys Noize Records UK exclusive. Fellow electro gods Erol Alkan, Switch and A-Trak have also been added to the bill, alongside Jack Beats, Sbtrkt, Mixhell and Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs.
