Riva Starr has stormed the international dance scene in the past few years. Since adopting the 'Riva' name, the Italian-born, London-based DJ/producer Stefano Miele has hit the pop charts with his gypsy house ditty 'I Was Drunk' and Fatboy Slim collab 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat' — but success has come on his own terms.
An eclectic artist, he's embarked on a number of varied projects, released on cool labels Dirtybird and Jesse Rose's Made To Play, and now his own Snatch Records imprint — with artists like Pirupa, Santos, Ruben Mandolini, Paride Saraceni and The Deepshakerz — is going great guns.
Riva has just started the 'Polaroid Beats' series to capture moods of where his production head is at at any one time. Melancholic soulful house cut 'In My Soul', streamed below, is the lead track from the first EP that also features the squelchy, tribal-tinged house track 'Voice Of God'.
Support for the EP has already come from Laurent Garnier, Jimmy Edgar, Paco Osuna, Davide Squillace, Noir, Yousef and X-Press 2 — amongst many others.
