If 2010’s ‘7am’ saw Brooklyn-based duo Teengirl Fantasy flirt with musical refinery, then last month’s ‘Tracer’ — their second LP — saw them tying a silk scarf around their necks and lighting up a fine Cuban cigar.
Drawing upon the tenets of tonal-based experimental noise, combining it with aspects of heart-on-sleeve pop and projecting it through a pure dance filter, TF’s florescent take on the sonic form really is a joy to behold.
A stark manifesto for dance/headphone capabilities looming large in the digital age, TF’s neon vision takes on even greater levels of luminosity when they perform live. You can catch them this month at Dalston’s Birthdays on Saturday 20th October, supported by PY.
