Tiesto on Avicii: ‘We’ve lost one of the most talented and innovative producers in the world’

Tiesto has dedicated his latest Club Life radio show to Avicii.

Opening the new show with ‘Bromance (Avicii’s Arena Mix)’ which Bergling produced under his alias Tim Berg, Tiesto said, “Friday the 20th April is a day I’ll never forget. On that day, I lost a true friend and the world lost one the most innovative and talented producers in the world.

“Avicii was a true pioneer in our dance world, he brought new styles and combinations of different genres together in a unique way,” Tiesto continued. “He was a huge example for everyone in the world of dance music — every kid wanted to be the new Avicii. (He went) from bedroom producer to No. 1 in the world.”

Tiesto then closed out the intro to the show (which first aired on Wednesday 2nd May) by saying, “enjoy the best producer in dance music, Avicii”.

News of Avicii’s death rocked the music world earlier this month with the EDM star’s family releasing a second statement last Friday (27th April) implying that Bergling had taken his own life.

Tributes for the Swedish star have poured in from fellow DJs, friends and fans with Nile Rodgers saying he was “one of the best, if not the best” producer he’s ever worked with.
