Vintage

Rather than desperately compete with the scrum for today’s cutting-edge acts, the best looking new kid on this year’s festival block is tracing back through five decades of British cool.

From the ballroom moves of the 1940s, through rock ‘n’ roll jives of the 1950s and into the 1960s pop explosion, Vintage is offering just that — a lovingly curated retrospective of the most defining sounds of their generations. Vintage will also explore the ska, northern soul and jazz funk sounds of the 1970s in the Casino Club, while the Greg Wilson and Jack Hemmingway curated 1980s Warehouse arena will take the logical musical progressions through rare grooves, ‘80s electro, disco and, of course, acid house with names like Andrew Weatherhall, Ashley Beedle, Graeme Park, Greg Wilson himself, Horsemeat Disco, Joey Negro, Optimo and Idjut Boys.
