VITAL LABEL
: EPM MUSIC

EPM Music give us the low down in this month's vital label

Who’s behind it?
Jonas Stone and Oliver Way, aka Mr O from the Detroit Grand Pubahs. EPM as a label was started in January 2011, exactly 10 years after EPM the company started. “We had the contacts, the passion and the means to promote and distribute. I guess it was more a case of ‘Why didn’t we do this earlier?’” says Jonas. “Now some 35 releases down the line, it’s been a great experience and journey. Hopefully we can help support and nurture new talent and the artists we work with. There’s no grand scheme other than releasing music we like.”

Sounds like?
Techno and house are the two main building blocks of the label, “but really it's anything that excites us”.

Who’s currently on it?
“Multi-instrumentalist Lee J. Malcolm who also writes and performs with experimental rock band, Vessels (Cuckundoo Records), Carl Taylor (Bugged Out!, F-Comm, Dust Science, Advanced and F1 Recordings), Stimulus man Paul Mac, Sweden’s Kristian Heikkila, The Third Man (Ai, ART and Tabernacle), Abe Duque and Paris the Black Fu, Oliver Way, and there have been great remixes from James Ruskin, Robert Hood, Marcel Fengler, John Heckle, Claro Intelecto, Legowelt, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, MGUN, Silent Servant, The Advent, Vince Watson and Orlando Voorn.”

Who’s playing it?
Sven Väth, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Doc Scott, Gary Beck, Slam, Kirk Degiorgio, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Ellen Allien, Surgeon, Josh Wink, Funk D’Void, DJ Deep, Robert Hood, Carl Cox and Bernard Wembley’s Mobile Disco (available for weddings and bar mitzvahs).

What’s next?
“ICAN Productions and UR artist Esteban Adame’s album ‘Day Labour’ this spring, preceded by the single ‘Home Sick’ with an MGUN remix. Also new material from New York house artist Luis Martinez, more singles from Greg Gow and Gareth Whitehead, and hopefully more great new material from our roster of artists.”
