VOTING FOR IDMAs OPENS

Vote now in the Miami WMC's International Dance Music Awards

Voting has just opened for the IDMAs – the 29th International Dance Music Awards. Dance music fans have until March 5th to register votes for their favourites in all 57 categories, if you so wish.

Organisers have nominated eight or so names for each category, so that for Best Global DJ, for instance, there's a choice between Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Hardwell and Tiesto. The DJ Awards are broken down into genre categories such as Best EDM/Pop DJ, Best Trance DJ, Best Techno/Tech House DJ and so on.

A few DJs may baulk at the categories in which they're nominated — Martin Garrix has already tweeted his surprise at being nominated in the Best Trance category — but the awards are generally considered to be quite a big deal. Armin Van Buuren is nominated for ten different awards, but it isn't all big room artists — DJ Mag faves such as Eats Everything, Todd Terje, Tiga, Dusky, Disclosure and so on are also up for awards.

The Music Awards are devoted to tracks in each genre, plus Best Compilation or Full-Length DJ Mix; the Artist Awards include categories like Best Remixer, Best Artist (Solo), Best Artist (Group) and Best Producer; there are Industry and Gear & Technology awards, too, and you know what to do when it comes to Category No.41: Best Music Media Resource...

Voting closes at the start of March (5th), and then the awards are dished out during the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC) at the end of March.
