Let's be honest. Winter can be long, dark and dispiriting, but only if you let it! This year, why not embrace the season by checking out a snow festival? Believe us, you'll be glad you did!
What can be better than flying down the slopes by day and then partying in some of the most breathtaking natural surroundings planet earth has to offer by night? It doesn't matter if you are a snow festival veteran or are trying it for the first time. Check out our rundown of this season's best events…
The most famous snow festival of them all! Snowbombing takes place 8,000 feet above sea level in Mayrhofen, Austria between 9-14 April 2018. This year's event features Pendulum, Gorgon City, Eats Everything, My Nu Leng, Camelphat and James Zabiela, who'll be soundtracking some of the most unique festival stages we’ve ever seen. From igloo raves to enchanted forest parties, Snowbombing pull out all the stops to make the festival experience totally unique.
Want to party in a converted Gondola Station in the shadow of Mont Blanc? Then Chamonix Unlimited could be for you! Taking place between 4-8 April 2018, Chamonix Unlimited brings underground house & techno's biggest artists together under France's highest peak. The festival promises 'unique venues for unique artists' and with a line up that includes Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Culoe De Song, Paul Kalkbrenner, Pan Pot and Laurent Garnier, we are in all day long!
Now in their sixth year, Snowboxx is going from strength to strength. The festival – which takes place between 18-25 March 2018 in the French resort of Avoriaz – puts as much emphasis on the festival experience as the line up. And when that line up includes Fatboy Slim, Chase & Status and a stage from tech house firm Abode, you know you are in safe hands. But be sure that if the music becomes too much, you can always immerse yourself in the bottomless brunch, organised snowball fight, the Comedy Club or many of the other apre-ski options on the agenda.
A new festival concept for 2018, Shapes has pooled the resources of London promoters Half Baked and Beauty & The Beat to throw a snow festival with a difference. Taking place at Leysin in Switzerland (the closest resort to Geneva) between 1-5 March 2018, Shapes is the place to catch artists including Optimo, A Guy Called Gerald, Saoirse and Pangaea, to name just a few. The resort boasts views of Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva and thermal baths, for when it all gets a bit much.
