A lot has been written about Printworks in these pages since it was first announced in late 2016. We recounted the excitement of our first trip around the cavernous industrial complex before it opened and the plans of the promoters at the time. We mused upon the timing of its launch, amidst the panic of Fabric’s license removal and horrifying stats on British club closures. And, throughout the year, reviewed various events across its two series — such as Ben Klock’s Photon closing party, Nina Kraviz’s mind-blowing Galaxiid party, Issue 002 opening with Charlotte de Witte and Rødhåd, and RAM Records 25th birthday — discussing the space’s development through initial qualms with sound and the dreaded token system, to our joy at these problems being resolved come the second run.

“From the first time we set foot in the building we knew that we could do something exciting with the space, both from a programming and production perspective — there have been many special moments throughout,” say the Printworks team. “It’s the end of an era on 1st Jan 2018 as it will be LWE's last event at Printworks but Broadwick Live will carry on with events in the space though, so keep your eyes peeled for the next set of line-ups.”

They’re well aware of just how crucial Printworks’ opening was to bolstering the scene, too. “London needed a good news story relating to nightlife, and Printworks launched at exactly that time. We put out a truly varied program of events, with levels of production that have not been seen before in a warehouse environment.” And to all those who voted for them, the team add: “Thank you for supporting us throughout Issues 001 and 002!”
