Terr & Daniel Watts will release a remix of Aili’s recent single, ‘Takoyaki’, later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Takoyaki (Terr & Daniel Watts Remix)’.

On the heels of their sparkling debut LP ‘Nandakke?’, released in February via Eskimo Recordings, Belgian-Japanese duo Aili have returned with a series of club-ready remixes, re-edits and reworks. Clash Lion co-founders Terr & Daniel Watts are next in line, transforming the already mischievous ‘Takoyaki’, named after a battered octopus dish in Aili’s native Japan, into a blazing disco house heater.

The remix – landing later this week ahead of the full EP in September – features glossy synth arpeggios, ringing cowbells and a seriously funky bassline entwined with Aili’s signature lilting Japanese vocal.

“I thought that I was done with that after our debut EP, but apparently not as I speak even more Japanese on the album!” Aili shared on the original cut. “Every time we were in the studio these words would just tumble out. It’s a complicated language but I just love to play with it.”

The remix follows a string of bouncy, club-focused releases from Berlin-based producers Terr and Daniel Watts, who founded the Clash Lion label together in 2017. The excellent collaborative single ‘Disco Axiom’ landed in 2020 on Permanent Vacation, ahead of their ‘Bring The Future’ EP in 2022, featuring Queer On Acid and Mala Ika.

‘Nandakke? (Remixed)’ is out 15th September. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to Terr & Daniel Watts’s remix of ‘Takoyaki’ below.
