Nicolás Jaar’s  Other People label readies a new compilation of emerging LA artists in collaboration with Rising Artists Foundation

Premiere: Becca Lilia, Romeo Diablos ‘La Muerte Me Gusta’

A new compilation, ‘Portals’, featuring music by emerging producers and songwriters based in and around Los Angeles will be released via Nicolás Jaar’s Other People label in February. Listen to ‘La Muerte Me Gusta’, a collaborative track by Becca Lilia and Romeo Diablos below.

The 19-track release originated in August 2022, when a group of artists participated in a music workshop program called OVERTONES, led by Jaar and Nereya Otieno and Ben Rafson of the Rising Artists Foundation. Comprising a selection of solo tracks and collaborations, the release features music by Becca Lilia, brz, mrsebs, Neyva, Romeo Diablos, Umbra Abra and VORA.

Showcasing each artist’s individual areas of musical expertise, as well as the unique, experimental concoctions that come out of collaborative sessions, the album’s sound palette spans experimental hip-hop, hyperactive club mutations, alien bolero, industrial perreo, choral ambience and more.

The album also contains one track featuring every artist involved in the project, alongside Jaar.

‘La Muerte Me Gusta’ is a super high-speed eruption of breakbeats, roaring bass, harsh distorted noise and auto-tuned vocals from LA-born producer Becca Lilia and Mexican-born-LA-based brujaton artist Romeo Diablos.

‘Portals’ will be released on 10th February. Pre-order it here
