Black Cadmium launch their new label, GLXY Recs, this month with the ‘Dream Computer’ LP. Listen to ‘6th Gear’ below.

The Rotterdam-based duo – who featured in DJ Mag’s Artists To Watch in 2022 – return after a year’s break from releasing new music with their most ambitious release to date: an eight-track collection that develops their tough house, techno and electro template into fresh new forms, inviting a cast of collaborators into the fray and kicking off the next phase of their journey.

The album features collaborations with Danou P, Arp Frique and Quanza, and visual work from Innocent_Artwork, Emory Hoffman and Momentulist. From the psychedelic deep house intro of ‘Strings Of Love’, the jazzy broken beat of ‘Stranded In Lisbon’ and the nocturnal electro of ‘Dark Days, Bright Nights’ to the peak-time NRG that packs the album’s second half, it’s a work that warrants end-to-end listening, but is full of standalone gems that’ll do serious business on the dancefloor.

‘6th Gear’, the penultimate track, is the album’s high-speed and hard-as-nails rave moment, reminiscent at points of Josh Wink – whose Ovum label Black Cadmium appeared on before, as well as labels including Carista’s United Identities Violet’s naive and DJ Pierre’s Acid Deep. Pummelling drums, strobing synths and a dirty acid lead launch the track into a frenzied space, demonstrating the Black Cadmium philosophy in action: “Everything goes, no filter...”

‘Dream Computer’ will be released on 31st March. Pre-order it here
