DJ Polo and NKC will release a new collaborative EP, ‘Lab Rat’, via the latter’s Even The Strong label this week. Listen to ‘Fonkeh’ below.

Off the back of their 2021 joint single, ‘Yeyeyeye/Hammerhead’, the Bristol-based duo return with three tracks that demonstrate their hybridised style of percussive club music. Incorporating elements of amapiano, UK funky, Afro house and grime, these brief, buoyant and irresistibly bass-heavy cuts capture the energy of the SteamRooms club night they co-run. The decidedly drum-focused party, which takes place at the Crofters Rights venue, has previously hosted the likes Scratcha DVA, Scotti Dee, Lurka, Monoke, DJ SP and The Tribal Brothers, who DJ Polo collaborated with on the Livity Sound EP, ‘The Link Up’

The EP is capped off with a remix of ‘Fonkeh’ from Bok Bok, whose Night Slugs label was a key influence for both NKC and Polo, and whose track, ‘Melba’s Call’, both remixed for the imprint’s 15th anniversary compilation.

‘Lab Rat’ will be released this Friday 26th May. Pre-order it here
