Premiere: Hassan Abou Alam ‘Lost In A Jar Of Thyme’

Hassan Abou Alam will release a new EP, ‘Ice’, via Parisian label Nehza Records this week. Listen to ‘Lost In A Jar Of Thyme’ below.

The Egyptian producer and live artist – whose music has previously appeared on labels such as Naive, early reflex and Rhythm Section International – debuts on Rinse France resident RONI’s label with four cuts of frosty club music, shifting through techno, electro, UK bass and breakbeat-tuned styles with a minimalist flair. From the skittering percussion of opener ‘Shmoolaire’ to the galloping techno of the closing title track, these tracks share a taste for deep, wriggling bass; distorted plumes of low-end pressure writhe and growl on top of tectonic drum beats. Fans of the warped n’ weighty Fever AM and Voam catalogues will find a lot to love here.

It’s the first release on Nehza Records since the ‘Transnatural’ compilation from February this year, which featured tracks from the likes of Cassius Select, Wanton Witch, Amaliah and GЯEG.

‘Ice’ will be released this Friday 23rd September. Pre-order it here.
