Mars89 will release a new EP, ‘Night Call’, via Sneaker Social Club this month.
The Tokyo-based producer follows releases for the likes of Bokeh Versions, Undercover, POLAAR and Acrylic with four cuts of deep, dark soundsystem pressure. Exploring the shadowy corners of the hardcore continuum to produce a thunderous, skeletal sound that packs a real industrial punch, he creates something that feels at once familiar and mysterious.
Elements of early grime, dubstep, techno and breakbeat are reshaped into something haunting and moody on ‘North Shibuya Local Service’, which you can hear below. Dystopian and heavy as hell.
