Premiere: Sha Ru 'Not Fluctuating'

Sha Ru debut on Woozy with four tracks of bass-heavy protest music for the club

Premiere: Sha Ru Not Fluctuating

Sha Ru will release their new EP, ‘Watch My Sway’, via Dublin label Woozy in February. Listen to ‘Not Fluctuating’ below.

Rough-hewn rave sonics and earth-shaking bass growls underscore the defiant message at the heart of this four-tracker from Kindergarten Records founder Ma Sha and Rù. The New York-via-Berlin-based duo’s debut for EMA’s imprint fits perfectly into its catalogue of future-facing club sounds, fusing strands of dubstep, techno, drill and 2-step with Ma Sha’s icy spoken vocals.

Inspired by their time spent immersed in the electronic music communities of Ukraine and Belarus, and channelling the raw energy of their live and hybrid DJ sets, the lyrics on this EP confront themes of resistance, unity and the fight for freedom against oppression, with all proceeds going to the Kyiv Angels and Repair Together charities. ‘Temporary Iteration’, ‘Not Fluctuating’ and ‘Synced Energies’ surge with an unshakeable sense of intent, and will sound immense on a good system.

Capped off with a thunderous remix from Ilian Tape affiliate Walton, the release is a potent example of electronic music as a form of protest. It lands on 3rd February. Pre-order it here
