As well as making up one half of Floorplan alongside her father and Underground Resistance founding member, Robert Hood, Lyric Hood is a force to be reckoned with as a solo artist.
Hailing from Detroit, Lyric first became part of Floorplan back in 2014 after taking over the decks from her dad during his set at the city’s revered Movement Festival. Since, she's become a fully fledged part of the Floorplan name. They released their first EP as a duo, which included the anthemic 'Tell You no Lie', back in 2016.
To date, Lyric has release three solo EPs via Robert Hood’s M-Plant imprint: ‘Nineteen / 11:11’, ‘Everything / Social Distance’ and ‘Not Enough / Praise Up’. On each, she explores her love of house and techno, bridging the gap between the two sounds and showcasing her deep-rooted understanding of the genres.
Earlier this year, Floorplan made their debut on Luke Solomon’s Classic imprint with a two-track EP, before following it up this month with signature big chords, vocal hooks and unrelenting techno in the form of ‘Get My Mansion Ready / Out Of Control’.
To round off a year of epic releases, Lyric Hood steps up for this week’s Selections with a series of dark techno cuts, chilled out house, and reminders of Detroit and Chicago.
