These are this week’s Bandcamp essentials (June 19th)

Starting life as a way of supporting the artists and labels impacted through the coronavirus pandemic, we've launched a weekly roundup of the most vital Bandcamp releases. This Juneteenth, and every Juneteenth hereafter, Bandcamp will donate 100% of its profits to the NAACP Legal Defence Fund. Check out our roundup of tracks, EPs, albums and compilations you can purchase to support the NAACP LDF below

Starting life as a way of supporting the artists and labels impacted through the coronavirus pandemic, DJ Mag launched a weekly roundup of the most vital Bandcamp releases. Over time, the Essentials feature has become a platform not just to champion artists and their work, but to highlight the causes and organisations the music industry are supporting through Bandcamp.

On June 5th, Bandcamp's fee-free Friday, we put the focus on releases from black artists, labels and collectives, as well as releases from those donating to organisations supporting black communities and initiatives. Today, June 19th, Bandcamp will donate 100% of its profits to the NAACP Legal Defence Fund. NAACP, a civil rights organisation founded in 1909, describe their mission in the 21st century as ensuring "the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination".

For Juneteenth, with Bandcamp's initiative at the forefront, we've listed some of the best releases of the last seven days. You can also check out this crowd-sourced list of Black artists on Bandcamp. Below, there's music from Denham Audio on Lobster Theremin, and Kush Jones' long-awaited EP on future times, plus new music from Overland and Ian DPM. There's also a number of releases supporting other causes alongside the NAACP, like Postseason Franchise Records' VA, and Glasgow label Outer Zone's 'Dear Green Space' compilation, which is donating their portion of the proceeds to Grenfell Foundation and CRER Scotland. Check out the picks from DJ Mag's editorial team below.
