Tell us in one sentence who you are and where are you from?
"I’m a DJ/Producer from Honduras."
Where did your love of music first come from?
"It comes from my dad, he used to play music at all the family parties and he has a huge collection of all kind of music, so that’s where I began listening to music."
How long have you been DJing?
"My first gig was in 2005 when I was 17 but I started turning this into a serious job in 2008 so that would be 8 years."
Do you produce music also?
"Yes, all my tracks are available to listen at www.georgemarino.com"
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
"My track “Vodka n Lime” entered some of the top 20 charts in Central America in 2012."
Tell us about the success as a DJ you’ve had in your own country.
"As a DJ I have opened for artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Dash Berlin, Lee Burridge and many others outside the Electronic music scene such as Flo Rida, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee and many others. I have been a headliner in several events and festivals also."
How does it feel to win your local Miller SoundClash competition? Tell us about your experience in the competition so far.
"It feels like it’s that opportunity I have been waiting for, to show the world what you are made of. It has been a great experience, I have learned a lot from the other participants, it was my first time in a competition like this and it was so helpful to identify and learn my flaws as a DJ."
How much does it mean to you to have made it to this stage of Miller SoundClash?
"It means a lot for me, my family and friends, they have supported me through all these years of my career and this is the opportunity to show the world what Honduras music can offer."
How do you plan to stand out over the other DJs in Las Vegas? How will you be preparing for the finale?
"I’m preparing remixes and mashups so people can listen to a unique set. As well as that I’m planning to present my own tracks. It will be a set full of energy and positive vibes, so we can have a great party."
What makes you unique compared to the other international finalists?
"What makes me “unique” are my productions and remixes. They have all the quality that the big producers offers to the industry. The energy in my sets makes you dance, jump, scream and make you have a memorable time."
Las Vegas is the EDM capital of the USA, with major DJs playing every weekend. If you could meet and hang out with one of these DJs in Vegas, who would it be and why?
"Skrillex, he is a genius producer, it would be interesting to get his tips and tricks in production, and Axwell, he is one of those DJ’s who shows you how to read a crowd and make you dance for hours. Zedd too, he is a mixture of both of these things."
Who from dance music’s elite do you most respect and take inspiration from?
"Axwell and Ingrosso, Alesso and Zedd"
How important is it for competitions like Miller SoundClash to give aspiring DJs the chance to show their talent to the world?
"It’s really important to have these kinds of events, most of all in countries like Honduras where the music industry has a low profile around the world."
Tell us a bit about your home country - how is the electronic music scene where you are from?
"EDM is growing fast in Honduras, despite the fact it’s a new music style in the country. All the people now know about it. We host one of the biggest underground festivals in Central America, Sunjam, and we have seen several important DJ’s perform there."
