Premiere: Mr. Tophat 'Time Lapse (DJ Tennis Disko Bang Club Mix)'

Life And Death label boss DJ Tennis will release a remix of Mr. Tophat's 'Time Lapse' later this month. Hear the dreamy atmospherics of the producer's glistening, pop-infused edit now

DJ Tennis has remixed Mr. Tophat for a new EP.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of DJ Tennis' Life And Death label this year, which has been home to releases from Bawrut, Mind Against, Tale of Us, and Red Axes, 2020 kicks off with a two-track EP from Swedish producer Mr. Tophat, and a remix from the label boss himself.

DJ Tennis first heard 'Time Lapse', which was originally released on Mr. Tophat's 2019 album 'Dusk to Dawn Part II', when Axel Boman played it at Miami Music Week during a back to back set, and a few months later, Tennis was asked to remix it. "I realised how well crafted the original was," he says, "with a classic flute player, incredible singer and synths and analogue compression - it was a work of art like a pop track on a major label. Beautifully made." The pair later hooked up and grew closer over a shared love of sonic craftsmanship and real attention to detail, so Tennis decided to re-release the original and work on a new take of the remix.

Landing as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune on Radio 1 in the last few weeks, Tennis' dreamy take on 'Time Lapse' is brimming with glistening chords. Noomi's hypnotic vocals glide over pop-infused rhythms, transforming the club track into a melodic cut of euphoria.
