Premiere: REKA ‘Purge’

Tresor resident REKA steps up on Phase Fatale and Florian Engerling’s BITE label with her ‘Diving The Innermost’ EP. ‘Purge’ is a shadowy, dense cut of dark, industrial EBM/techno

Madrid-born, Berlin-based REKA will release her debut solo EP on Phase Fatale and Florian Engerling’s BITE label on Monday 22nd October.

Despite years of DJing experience that has seen her playing on some of Europe’s most hallowed clubs as well as holding a five year residency at the mighty Tresor Berlin, Diving The Innermost’ marks her debut solo release. A four-track turnaround of electro-leaning techno steeped in deep, psychedelic and industrial sounds, it’s a shadowy release, and one that fits perfectly on a label run in part by Phase Fatale, a producer who has been vital in championing those sounds in 2018.

‘Purge’ is the most spectral, haunting track on display here, standing some distance from the heady rhythms and acid nods found elsewhere on the EP. Instead, this track is drenched in haunted noise, eerie breaths and gasps, gunshot percussion and a low, threatening bass that drags the listener into a tense, gripping sonic headspace. Check it out below.

You’ll be able to grab the EP from BITE’s bandcamp.
