Premiere: Stolen Velour ‘Tibi Bat’

London’s Stolen Velour injects bassy techno with sugar rush hyperpop on his solo debut EP for Kindergarten Records.  Hear ‘Tibi Bat’ now

Stolen Velour will release a new EP, ‘Onyx’, via Brooklyn’s Kindergarten Records this week. Listen to ‘Tibi Bat’ below.

Following an appearance on the label's 'Fluo II' compilation earlier this year, 'Onyx' marks the London artist's solo debut for imprint. Across three original cuts, he takes bassy UK techno rhythms and injects them with trance melodies and hyperpop electricity. It’s pure sugar rush material, but these tracks wield more than enough grit and depth to hit headier dancefloors right in the collective chest.

The release also comes paired with a remix by Jabes, who puts a cyborg gqom spin on the opening track, ‘Symbiosis’.

Described as an EP about  “a visceral marriage of the two impulses, aggression intermingled with sweetness, dark with light”, ‘Onyx’ is partly influenced by the black, white and red aesthetic of the Luo people of Kenya, from whom Stolen Velour is descended on his father’s side. The colour scheme is matched by the EP’s artwork, designed by je_fous_le_camp.

‘Onyx’ will be released on 19th November. Pre-order it here.
