Doing Bits Worldwide
The Brum rap scene has been going from strength to strength as of late, and heavyweight MC Jaykae is emblematic of that. His first proper solo project, the ‘Where Have You Been’ EP, sees an emcee maturing and flourishing, proving he can shine on record as well as on the early freestyles that grabbed people's attention. The Peaky Blinders-themed video is well worth a watch too (the TV series is set in Small Heath, where Jaykae’s from).
'Bar ft. Scratchy & D Double E'
This month Wiley and D Double E are playing Father Christmas and dropping two brand new tracks down our chimney. ‘Bar’ is the first glimpse of the heavily-anticipated ‘The Godfather II’, a Rude Kid production that hosts Wiley in his element, reeling off witticisms like “It's a pagan free zone, stay in the G zone”. Scratchy makes a guest appearance, too — showing that he can still run with the big dogs.

'Better Than The Rest ft. Wiley'
Biddy bup-bup… D Double (or as he’s styling himself now, the “Lyrical Incredible Hulk”) hints at his 15-years-in-the-making album — reportedly named ‘Jackuum!’ with what we can assume is the first single. The grime farda lays down some no-nonsense lyrics over an icy Diamondz production, while Wiley steps in for a verse where he manages to assert his own lyrical strength while bigging up other artists, as he so loves to do.

“This tune always gets me gassed in the raves up ‘til today! My people as well so you dun know!”
Not many people can say they’ve had the year Yizzy’s had. The 17-year-old MC has made some serious moves in 2017, and on ‘Radio Danger’ the self-described member of the ‘new gen’ takes aim at the whole record industry. He’s drafted in Terror Danjah and Swifta Beater for an old school grime feel on the beat, while he calls out industry fakes and money grabbers in a bid to “get certain things off my chest, you get me”.
