Dutch DJ and producer Dr. Rude has one of the most distinct sounds in hardstyle, with his trademark ‘hard drop’ beats. This latest offering stays true to the simple-yet-effective formula, with Skrillex-esque chopped and tuned vocals on the breakdown, before expanding into the uplifting melody. Following the build, we get the all-important clean drop to a tough and techy kick that will shatter windows. Dr. Rude is a DJ with a great understanding of what works on the dancefloor.
Spirit of Hardstyle
"Euphoric hardstyle is where my heart is, and this certainly does the damage with its high energy intro and massive melody."
''My Love (Reklus Remix)''
"I love this track — the summer vibe always pleases and brings the energy to the dancefloor."
Dany BPM & Rewildz
'All Of Time (feat Max Landry)'
Dany BPM is one of the most prolific producers in the scene at the moment — but don’t think that this quantity comes at the expense of quality. This latest collaboration with Rewildz is a commercial hardstyle track that will sit perfectly on the main stage of hardstyle and EDM festivals alike. The beautifully uplifting vocal is followed by a hands-in-the-air main riff and melodic kick drop to seal the deal on a massive tune.
Ben may have been featured more regularly in the trance reviews over the years, but his recent success has seen him blur the lines across multiple genres. His latest solo outing clocks in at 150BPM and sits somewhere between euphoric hardstyle and psy trance. The breakdown is very hardstyle influenced, but the drop is clean and punchy, with rolling psy kick and bass. Sprinkle in a few distorted hardstyle kick fills to fuse the track together, and you have a cool tune that would sound natural in either scene.
'Let The Music Play (David Rust Remix)'
Here we have a remix of the all-time hard dance classic from Walt (one half of Showtek). This track was hammered across the world in hard dance DJs' sets, straddling the line somewhere between hardstyle and hard trance. David Rust takes this classic to the harder end of tech trance, keeping all the elements that made the original such a hit, but updating the percussion, kick and bass to sound more fitting in 2019.
'My Love (Reklus Remix)'
Reklus is a UK-based hardstyle artist who will be no stranger to any ravers in the north of England due to his DJ sets, but he has also been working tirelessly for years honing his craft as a producer. Despite many great tracks already, this latest remix for Alex Kidd really marks his arrival, as the production quality here is on par with the high standards set by our European colleagues. The uplifting vibes, crisp and crunchy kick drums and sizzling synth work on this one will surely prove the moment Reklus gets noticed for real.
Joey Riot & Macks Wolf
This is an intriguing collaboration by two artists well-established and renowned for their UK hardcore productions. 'Mystic Revolution', however, is firmly in the Dutch-sounding euphoric hardstyle camp. Offering a nice mid intro section for the dancefloors, an arrangement often overlooked in favour of a ‘straight to the main break’ approach, this one is clearly written with the club in mind. When the main break does arrive, it doesn’t disappoint, with a killer melody, build and drop to lift the roof.
ANDY THE CORE
Andy is one of the more interesting uptempo hardcore producers. In a sub genre that can be lacking in production values at times, his work is always impeccably made and original. This latest track is a nod to the sounds of yesteryear, with a high key, distorted 909 kick drop, overdriven fills, bleeps and frantically edited rap samples. It has all the elements of classic hardcore techno in a modern, package.
