Peggy Gou's Gudu imprint comes with its third release, from the avant-disco maestro himself, the one and only Maurice Fulton. Gou joins him for the A-side vibe, the majestic 'Jigoo', a bumping Chicago-style jam, packed with vintage drums, vintage chords and abstract arps, building to a blazing climax. Maurice monopolises the B-side himself, with 'Not Sure How I Would', a phasing, busted-up beat with rasping guitars, and the barmy 'One Itself', a noisy, psych-house journey into the unknown, thick with congas and interplanetary interference. Visionary.
Jus-Ed and Melchior Sultana
'Beyond Perceptions 2'
The inimitable Jus-Ed hooks up with Maltese-born multi-instrumentalist and frequent collaborator Melchior Sultana for their second Beyond Perceptions project on Ed's UQ imprint. The results are predictably classy. 'Luqa Jazz' warms the soul, jazz and house done right, with room to breathe. 'Malta Cipher' is a firmer proposition, with off-beat stabs blending with warm pads. 'Bridgeport Lindy' is a breezy garage-tinged groove, while 'Tension & Release' turns a couple of chords into a brooding tech vibe.
'Cityspell EP '
Delusions Of Grandeur
Tom Mangan, aka Tom Millionhands, aka Tee Mango, goes all Moroder here for Freerange sister imprint Delusions Of Grandeur. Well, Moroder if he had a penchant for rave horns. Title track 'Cityspell' builds an urgent vibe, a 'gear-shift' track if ever there was one. Over, 'Do U Luv Me?' strips things back, with diva howls, hanging strings and big, messy chords, while 'What U Done' marries a subtly throbbing, subtly acidic bassline with glacial bursts of synth.
'Enter The Dancefloor EP'
The man Fred Peterkin returns to Cassy's continually impressive Kwench imprint with four masterful moments in house. 'Enter The Dancefloor' is utter bliss; five brief minutes of pulsing delight, breathy vocals and deep space synths. 'In The Mood' ups the swing, delivering a murky bassline beneath soothing chords and inspiring words, stressing the importance of experiencing music en masse, not alone. 'Vibes' has them up the yin-yang, while 'Feel It' is a gathering maelstrom of deep joy.
Tel Aviv's Omri Smadar takes a bow on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, unleashing three tracks of intense and beautiful electronic drama. With vocals from Siam, 'In The Realm Of' sounds like Heaven 17 meets Harold Faltemeyer at the space disco. 'Fragile' samples Israeli rock legend Itzhak Klepter to create a spine-tingling Balearic house anthem for the ages. And 'Kivun', with its talking bassline, draws in shimmering pads and staccato synths, and has a towering crescendo. A stunning debut.
Just Her (aka Claire Spooner, who turned up with Fabrice Lig and Raw District's excellent 'Lay Your Weapons Down' for Crosstown Rebels last year) turns this classiness out for Motek. 'Quiet Anguish' hurls a classic breakbeat into a house framework, with swelling pads and twinkling arps, while My Favorite Robot turn in a wonderfully spooky re-rub, with a pulsing bassline and shredded vocals. 'The Signs' is a heads-down, driving groove, with Vibeke Bruff swinging by with some sinister sub vibrations.
Soul Stage Records
Needing precisely no intro, the legendary Orlando Voorn clubs this out of the park for the newly-minted Soul Stage Records, indulging his soulful side. Slik Tim provides the bassline for 'Super Soul', fusing itself to the loose percussion and warming keys. The frisky 'Warehouse Mix' cements the track's club-wrecking potential. 'Feel My Bass' and 'Gotta Get Up' meanwhile, are all looped up, tops off abandon, both tearing up their disco origins and making something very special with what's left.
Well Cut Records
A fabulously disorientating excursion from the enigmatic Lenny Middles on Well Cut Records. 'Swellz' is crafted expertly to spin out dancefloors with extreme prejudice, its wonky arps and reversed pulses creating a wall of electronic madness, all supported by sturdy percussion. Japan's Satoshi Fumi releases the pressure, with warm pads and Orbital-esque modulations, before life-affirming piano chords let in the light and Detroit house vibes come flooding in. Label boss Moodymanc drops in an irresistibly mucky dub too.

Vienna-born Berliner Joyce Muniz arrives in the embrace of Steve Bug's Poker Flat, following previous adventures everywhere from Shir Khan's Exploited and Ralph Lawson's 20:20 Vision to DJ Hell's eminent Gigolo. Featuring Demetrius, this is a grinding, grunting muscular workout, a throbbing bassline driving the show, as a breathy, sleazy vocal (sorry, Demetrius) makes things weird and ever-so-slightly unsettling. There's an instrumental too, but that would be missing the point a little.
