Narna (I Am Happy)

Play It Say It

This house legend turns back the clock with his second offering on Play It Say It. ‘Narna (I Am Happy)’ pumps a furious two-bar loop, sampling Bileo’s 1979 classic ‘You Can Win’ and harking back to the good old days of Ibiza, when big-room house was what tech-house is today — it's 100% main room business. This package contains a twisted remix from rising name ABSOLUTE, and a techno tool, which is like a classic dub mix of the original, save a bit of resampling and percussion re-arrangement. This one’s a certified summer classic.

'Drinking With My Mind'

Burnin Music Recordings

It’s a London thing, from the capital’s Burnin Music and debut artist, Pegasvs. The original, ‘Drinking With My Eyes’, featuring the lyrically agile Xuli, is a deep and jacking summertime steamer. Creamy chord stabs sit above a rubbery '90s bassline progression. The remix comes from Hugo LX, who takes it into deeper territory, reverting to a low-slung bassline, laid-back hats and lush keys. This is the rising London label’s fourth release, following a strong showing from Ponty Mython. Get to know.

Acid Pauli & Nico Stojan

'Flying Lizard EP'

The Ouie co-founders collaborate for only the second time on their label, offering a three-track EP centred on the driving, expansive ‘Flying Lizard’, but with two highly useful tracks in the moody, calming twilight energy of ‘Hush’ and the direct groove of ‘Alambic’. This is an incredibly inviting selection of danceable soundscapes from these long-time studio partners, an EP seriously worth your time.

'French EP'

Kwench Records

Cassy’s Kwench imprint is absolutely killing it, with a variety of flavours aimed squarely at keeping you dancing. Here, highly respected producer and Rotary Cocktail Recordings owner, youANDme, touches down with the 'French EP’. The hypnotising ‘Put It Back’ places dub echoing, muted stabs above a mellow bass groove and beat, creating a luscious, syncopating vibe. ‘Slonk’ is a jacking affair, while ‘Info’ is a brash, bass-plucking assault atop a solid, simple beat.

Richy Ahmed

'Jammin Remixes'

Origins Recrds

Josh Butler’s Origins Recrds pushes on from a landmark 2018, that saw releases from Groove Armada, Huxley and Richy Ahmed. Here, Butler’s remix repurposes ‘Jammin’s’ ravey piano stab, adding a little swing to create yet more groove for the main room to step into. Ben Rau — one of Berlin’s prime movers in the rolling tech arena — remixes the flip ‘Sweat’ into a more composed slice of high-grade technical business.

'Otapeni EP'

No Art

Off the back of recent quality grooves on PIV, We R House and Cyclic, this fast-rising Dutchman is on a roll, and this effort is up there with his best to date. ‘Otapeni’ provides a solid standard to begin; tough low-end rhythms and purposed hi percs do the work here, while the flip, ‘Fantasized’, is all about the mean bassline. There's a superb counterpart remix from Argentinian LondonGround, completing an utterly superb EP.

Dodi Palese

'Unpleasant Inner State'

Engrave LTD

‘Traits’ has been rinsed by Ame and Dixon in recent months, and leads this highly anticipated EP from Rakale boss, Dodi Palese on the well-regarded Italian imprint, Engrave LTD. The original receives a jagged, metallic revision by enigmatic Innervisions affiliate Orchestra Familiàr; Dodi then follows up with ‘Disorder Mood’, a wild, chugging electroid cut, before closing with the tense synth progressing title track, 'Unpleasant Inner State'.
